I began photographing in high school when a friend brought me a 35mm camera from Vietnam. My photos have appeared in diverse places – from an article about nuclear power plants to a hiking video about the Grand Canyon. My images of Egypt have been published in business brochures and purchased for private collection, and my work has shown in galleries in Tucson, Tubac and Bisbee, Arizona.
I enjoy being in the moment, and looking through the lens brings me to a new way of seeing. I pay closer attention to color, texture, line and shadow – the beauty and detail in our natural environment. My street images capture the unnoticed moments we all share. My landscape and flower images highlight the spirit of the Southwest. I have explored and photographed many of the cliff dwellings and slick rock canyons of the Colorado Plateau in Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. I enjoy the greater Southwest – architectural and landscape scenes of historic and ancient communities and the fragile desert environment found in the Sonoran Desert and throughout the Four Corners area.
“Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph." – Matt Hardy
